Getting
Paid for your Website Advertising and Services
This is the great thing - Google
and affiliate programs tend to pay like clockwork, so your primary sources
of income are reliable and you can count on them.
However . . . once you get
outside of well-established programs you can start to have problems.
At one time, I referred people to
a certain program - and made a decent income. In fact, the income was SO
GOOD that I made a website to just sell that program. Funny though, in
spite of large traffic and MANY more referrals my income dropped off to zero
- for a year! Just a few pages earned me hundreds of dollars in a year,
but yet a 100+ page website with excellent traffic - in combination with the
already existing pages - earned ZERO $$$?!
Hmmmm, what do you think was
going on? Seems the program was in dire financial straits . . . and guess
who had to bite the bullet? Yeah. So, all the ideas that are on the
Other Income
Ideas page require that you monitor and pay close attention to what goes
where and who buys what.
It is important, when using
non-formalized methods, that you pay close attention to what is going on.
Don't send people directly on to people advertising with you - or who pay a
commission to you. Have them contact you first so you have a name and know
whom you have sent onward. If you don't do that - well . . . you are as
stupid as I was when I wasn't paying attention.
These days, when I make a
referral, I save the email and put the persons name right in the subject
line of the email. I also make it very clear that it is a referral and that
it came specifically from me. If you help people with the success of their
businesses - you deserve the commission that they have promised you.
Non-formal type programs are more
risky - but the reward can be much greater too. Don't shy away from them,
but do learn from my mistakes and pay attention to what is going on.
