Getting Traffic
to
your Website
Your website needs traffic if
you hope to make any money. You might have a great website - but
no traffic means no one will see it, no one will click on anything or
buy anything, and you will earn nothing.
How do you get traffic to your
website? Easy! Pay a lot of money to Google for "Google Ads" and there you
go. Done. But many of us start in this business on a shoestring
and there is a much less expensive way to do this - and to a large degree
this is why you should develop a website related to your interests and
experience. Do a Google search and find discussion groups related to your
topic. Register and participate in the groups.
Try to find high traffic
discussion groups where lots of people participate. Use a "SIG" line or
signature line at the bottom of your message. These are usually set up in
your "profile." Put your website URL and a short accurate description of
what your website is about in that signature line and you are on your way.
You will see other people doing this also - now you know why!
What you will find is that the
many people who visit the discussion group will see your SIG line and at one
time or another will click on it. On high volume discussion groups this
will begin to add up to a lot of visits. And these tend to be high quality
visits as these are people who already have an interest in your topic.
If you participate in several
high volume discussion groups you will find your traffic start to build.
Next, go to Google and join up at
the Google
Webmasters site. This site will show you how to increase your exposure
to the Google search engine and increase your traffic from Google.
Consider buying
The SEO Book
to learn search engine optimization - so Google and Yahoo and MSN search
engines will send you much more traffic.
These things take time. Don't
expect your traffic to skyrocket quickly. Be patient, persist, participate
in the groups - and your traffic will come. Some traffic is seasonal,
certain times of year will bring you more traffic than others. Give each
website you develop at least six months to begin to build serious traffic.
