Why do Websites Seem to Grow at an
Erratic Pace?

December 2007
Websites
are always works in progress. They are never finished and they never look
and work as exactly as you would like them to.
At five months today - since I started to work on websites full time - and I
have improved my skills tremendously. So much so - that I can now see a
multitude of errors and problems on my existing websites. So . . . the the
last month - and probably the next month I am taking the time to rebuild and
redo my current websites - to increase their earnings potential.
Though I certainly expect it will take a while to really get my income up -
I have already seen some promising results from a couple that I have
rebuilt. A professionally done site inspires confidence in your
customers/visitors and they are more likely to purchase your service or
product if your website is well put together and functions correctly.
One thing I have spent a LOT of time on lately is making sure that my
websites work well in FireFox AND IE AND on different sizes of monitors with
different settings. The differences can be terrible - and it takes some
time to iron them out - but it is all part of the learning process.
Depending on your software, browser, monitor, monitor driver and monitor
settings - this website (and all websites) can look and perform (or not)
quite differently.
As a result of all of the above - I have put on hold - albeit temporarily -
building my new websites.
And, yes, even this website is badly in need of a good rework - which it
will get in the next 30 days or so.
This is actually good news. When your skills improve, you can improve your
websites and improve your income. Quality can trump quantity.
